Sarah Gordon Memorial Concert
Sarah Gordon (1944-2015) was, for decades, a well-known figure in Maldon. For many years, she was administrator of the Kirckman Concert Society; promoting gifted young musicians and helping them at the start of their careers. She was also a founder member of the Maldon Festival committee, helping to bring Kirckman artists to perform in Maldon.
The Kirckman Concert society says, “Sarah was far more than just a gifted music administrator. In addition to arranging a huge number of concerts and events for the Society, she helped and guided many artists with great skill and sensitivity at the beginning of their professional performing careers. Working alongside our Music Director (originally co-founder Geraint Jones and subsequently Neil Black), she saw this support role for Kirckman artists as being of crucial importance in building the confidence of young musicians and, with her colleagues in Sarah Gordon Concert Management, she made a vital contribution to the success of the Society’s activities for over 25 years. We at Kirckman will continue to promote outstanding young musicians, but Sarah’s dedication and warmth will be irreplaceable. She will be fondly remembered and very greatly missed.”
The concert, sponsored by the Kirckman Concert Society, will be a recital by Marta Kowalczyk and Somi Kim for violin and piano in her memory
